Maya leads energetic classes that build strength. She aims to cultivate a sense of creativity and joy in every person who comes to the mat.

Maya’s practice first began in 2015, when she’d started powerlifting and her body felt rundown. While yoga certainly improved her mobility, what she fell in love with most was how she could build strength without external objects like weights. Through yoga, some of the most satisfying challenges can be found all within our own bodies.

As an artist and storyteller off the mat, Maya strongly believes that moving our bodies is essential to the creative process. She sees yoga as both a form of creative expression, as well as a means of breaking through creative blocks.

Occasionally, she incorporates her training as a voice performer into her classes. She works in the Linklater and Lucid Body methods, which take a holistic approach to the body to free our natural voice.

Maya loves to curate the music for each class she leads including jazz, electronic, R&B and soul. Her playlists are available on Apple Music.

I offer private group and individual classes. Rates vary depending on group size, number of classes, location, if mats and props need to be provided, etc… Email me at yoga@mayasugarman.com and we can craft the right class for your needs.
